We take our clients' downed trees or logs and turn them in to valuable lumber that is suitable for a variety of uses from building, woodworking, industrial, etc.
We also produce and sell our own lumber and fulfill custom orders from clients.
When sawing mobile we arrive completetly ready to work with as much or as little assistance as our customers want to offer. We have a hydraulic sawmill so sawing logs weighing up to a few tons are not a problem.
How much does it cost?
That depends. All milling is charged on an hourly basis. The amount of time it takes to mill our customer's lumber depends on the size(s) needed, thickness, and method of cut (Through-and-through, quartersawn, sawing for grade, etc.) as each method of cutting takes a different amount of time. As an example, if a customer has a 20" diameter log and wants it cut 8/4 thick and through-and-though, and is handling the offloading then it might take 20 minutes to saw the log. However, if customer wants it cut 4/4 quartersawn and we are handling both the cutting and offloading then it will easly take four times as long.
How long does it take?
That depends. the biggest factors are the number and size of the logs, the size(s) needed, and the location of the logs. Since all charges are hourly, if the logs are lined up as directed it greatly minimizes the amount of time getting them onto the mill. If they are spread about all over then it will take longer to physically move them to the mill. The size of the logs is also a factor as there is a "sunk cost" for each log. Cutting dimensional lumber from logs has the same four cuts regarless of the size of the log; whether it is a 20" diameter log with 192 board feet of lumber or a 10" diameter log with 27 board feet of lumber, it will require the same 4 cuts to square it up.
Can I help?
Yes! Our customer's are free to help with the loading of logs and offloading of lumber. This is a great way to be part of "making" the lumber, providing exercise, and minimizing costs. Of course, customers do this at their own risk, but we are happy to work with them.
What size log can you cut?
The mill can handle logs up to 21' long and 32" in diameter. The throat of the mill head is 26" straight across.
What types of lumber can you produce?
We can cut both dimensional boards and live-edge slabs. We can produce quartersawn lumber, riftsawn lumber, plainsawn lumber, or use a livesawn/ through-and-through method to produce a variety of cuts from a single log.
Do you buy Logs?
Yes, we do buy some. It depends on the size and species. Price is paid based on the species and amount of board feet. Generally logs must be at least 12" diameter on the small end and at least 8' in length and delivered to our location. In some cases we can pick up logs, but that is largely based on size and species of log(s) as well as location.
